Pontefract Academies Trust is a cross phase Multi Academy Trust, comprising of eight schools, six primary schools and two 11 – 16 secondary schools. The Trust is a medium sized family of schools all located within a tight geographic hub within Pontefract. Students are drawn from the local community that includes a mix of different catchment areas.

Are you an aspiring teacher, educational psychologist, speech and language therapist or planning a career working with young people? Carleton High School are offering opportunities to graduates seeking to build up their career portfolio and gain experience working in a school setting. Placements are available for 12 months and provide meaningful experiences working with young people and students with SEN by providing support as a Learning Support Assistant to pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis. This invaluable experience will assist graduates in their future career choices.

This post is a 27.5 hours per week, term time plus two, 12 months fixed term role, equating to 192 working days per year.

The school can offer:

• one year work placement as a Learning Support Assistant for SEND pupils;
• excellent training and mentorship provided;
• an opportunity to take a one week placement in a primary school;
• CPD delivered by a trained SENCo who will support in developing knowledge, experience and skills;
• opportunities to observe a trained educational psychologist and implement recommended strategies to support students with SEND;
• the opportunity to undertake an independent study project supported by the SENCO.
